What is Virtual PT?

What I Do as a Virtual Physical Therapist

I’m Dr. Beth Teran, a doctor of physical therapy with over 25 years of experience helping people move better, build strength, and live with less pain. Over the years, I’ve treated hundreds of people in clinics, gyms, homes, and now—virtually.

Yes, physical therapy can happen online, and for many people, it’s not just convenient—it’s transformational.

What Is Virtual Physical Therapy?

Virtual physical therapy (also called telehealth PT) is just what it sounds like: physical therapy delivered over a secure video connection. Instead of driving to a clinic, we meet from wherever you are—your home, your office, your gym.

The experience is personal, interactive, and customized. You still get expert care. You still get one-on-one attention. But now it comes without the commute or waiting room.

What I Help With

My clients come to me for support with:

  • Persistent pain that hasn’t responded to traditional treatment

  • Post-rehab guidance to bridge the gap from therapy to real life

  • Strength and mobility for women over 40

  • Pelvic health concerns in a private, comfortable setting

  • Running and movement coaching to prevent injury and boost performance

Whether you're trying to walk without pain, get back to strength training, or prepare for a half marathon, I meet you at your level and build a plan around your goals.

What to Expect in a Session

Virtual PT starts with a conversation. We talk about your symptoms, your history, and what matters most to you. I observe your movement—how you sit, stand, walk, or lift—and together, we uncover the “why” behind your pain or limitations.

From there, sessions may include:

  • Movement education and real-time coaching

  • Custom exercise instruction

  • Mind-body strategies for pain regulation

  • Support between sessions through messages or video demos

It’s not just about fixing a joint or muscle. It’s about understanding your whole system—your stress, your habits, your life.

Why Virtual PT Works

You might wonder, “Isn’t PT hands-on?” Yes, sometimes—but hands-on treatment is only one tool among many.

Research shows that education, movement, and consistent coaching are often the most effective elements in long-term recovery.

Virtual PT allows for:

  • Consistency: No cancellations due to weather, travel, or schedule conflicts

  • Comfort: You’re in your own environment, which makes practice more real

  • Empowerment: You learn to help yourself, not rely on passive treatment

  • Personalization: Every session is 100% focused on you

My Approach: Whole-Person Care

My practice blends physical therapy with coaching, movement science, and whole-person wellness. I believe pain is never just about tissue—it’s about your story, your habits, your environment, and your capacity.

Together, we build a foundation of strength, clarity, and trust in your body.

This isn’t a “fix you” model—it’s a partner with you model.

Is Virtual PT Right for You?

It might be, if:

  • You’ve “graduated” from PT but still don’t feel ready to move confidently

  • You have recurring injuries or chronic pain and want long-term solutions

  • You want to train smarter, not just harder

  • You prefer flexible scheduling and private, focused attention

  • You’re motivated to move forward and need a guide who sees the whole picture
